About me

I will be graduating from Magna Cum Laude from Northern Michigan University in May 2025 with my Bachelor’s degree in secondary social studies and English education.

I grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where I always felt surrounded by history. Whether it was at the farm my family built and has owned for over one-hundred years or at the various small-town museums, I could always feel the living history around me. This is a feeling that I aspire to instill in students so that they know history isn’t just events of the past, it is all of the steps that brought the world to where it is today.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy music, travelling, and spending time with my pets.

Classroom experiences

  • I was placed at Calumet High School for my student teaching experience from January-April 2025. During my time in Calumet, I taught in freshman year world history classes as well as junior year U.S. history classes under the direction of two mentor teachers.

  • I was placed at Houghton High School to observe for my English education methods courses. Though I did teach lessons here, the stronger emphasis was on learning as a teacher through observing.

  • During my time at Bothwell in the fall of 2023, I observed in history and English classrooms at the seventh grade level. This was during my introductory education courses with an emphasis on learning pedagogy and teaching strategies through observation of my mentor teachers and my students.
